- On Saturday January 22nd, during the severe snowstorm, the Pemberton Township Police Department, with support from the Burlington County Prosecutors Office, served a search warrant upon the residents of 39 Foxglove Street in Browns Mills. At approximately 4 AM on that date, Pemberton Township police detectives began an investigation into a sexual assault that was reported to have happened at the Foxglove Street residence. The victim, a 20 year old female, told the investigating detective that she was drinking alcohol with two male subjects at the residence when she began to feel dizzy. There is the possibility that she may have been drugged prior to the assault. She went into a bedroom and passed out on a bed. She awoke some time later to find the two male subjects sexually assaulting her. She left the residence shortly after this and later went to the hospital to be examined. Pemberton Township detectives applied for and were granted a search warrant for the 39 Foxglove Street residence in order to obtain evidence of the sexual assault and any drugs that may have been used to incapacitate the victim. Prior to serving the search warrant, the detectives had to request the assistance of the Pemberton Township Public Works Department to plow the street due to the heavy snows that had fallen that day. After the street had been plowed, and in near blizzard conditions, members of the patrol and detectives divisions were able to make entry into the residence. After securing the occupants of the residence, the officers that entered the home found large amounts of marijuana and presently unidentified pills in plain view in several of the bedrooms. A detective from the Technical Services Unit of the Burlington County Prosecutors Office assisted Pemberton Township police officers in a thorough search of the Foxglove Street residence which yielded over 50 items of property and evidence. The evidence that was seized includes marijuana, the unidentified pills, cocaine and items related to the sexual assault. As a result of the search warrant Christina Harding, Christopher Harding,25, Randy Warrick, 26, and Marcus Brown,21, all of Browns Mills, were arrested and charged with various drug offenses to include possession and distribution charges. Christina Harding, 59, was released on $1000.00 bail. The other three subjects were placed in Burlington County Jail. Christopher Harding, along with Phillip Budrow have been charged with the sexual assault of the 20 year old female victim. Phillip Budrow was not in the Foxglove Street residence at the time that the search warrant was served. He is still at large. Police are also looking for Alex Harding who has been charged with various drug related offenses stemming from the search warrant. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of these subjects should contact the Pemberton Township Police Department. Det. David Patriarca, Det. David King and Det. - Pemberton Township Police are investigating a report of illegal charity solicitation (Scam), in which a female subject is collecting money from township residence for victims of a house fire. She is described as a slender, well-dressed African American Female, age unknown, carrying a can labeled AME Church and True Vine Baptist Church. The investigation revealed that the AME Church, Lakehurst Rd and the True Vine Baptist Church names both located in Browns Mills are being illegally used as sponsors to solicit money in this scam. The unknown female, who is not affiliated with either church, is attempting to collect money door to door by connecting the church and a fictitious tragic event. Pastor Holloway of True Vine Baptist Church and a member of the AME Church both verified that no one from their respective churches is conducting this type of collection. Police are warning residents to be cautious and request the proper documentation and identification when confronted for donation to this or any other charity. On August 19th the Pemberton Township Police made an arrest in the recent charity scam occurring in Browns Mills. Over the past few weeks, a female subject had been going door to door in the Browns Mills area collecting money for a church. We have confirmed through the church that there is no current fund raiser in progress. The suspect, Eva Commings, was apprehended after officers were notified by a citizen that she was soliciting funds in the Country Lakes area. The citizen was aware of this ongoing fraud case after reading about it on our police internet site and in the newspapers. There is no indication that Ms. Commings was doing this because of any personal need. Officers ensured that she was not homeless or destitute. We are asking that any victims in this matter contact the Pemberton Township Police Detective Bureau in order to provide positive identification of this suspect. Please call 609-894-3310 during the hours of 8 AM to 4 PM if you think you may have been a victim of this scam or if you have any information about this incident.

SEPTEMBER
- Two dancers at a controversial go-go club have been charged with offering undercover officers sexual acts in exchange for money, police said. Megaly Castor, 45, of Delran and Gecilda B. Dourado, 54, of Newark each were charged Tuesday with solicitation of prostitution after an investigation at Cheeks Gentleman's Club on South Pemberton Road, Police Chief Stephen Emery said. Both women are employed as dancers at the club, he said.
Cheeks' owner Linda DiLullo denied dancers at the club engage in prostitution. She said township officials are looking for an excuse to shut down her business. "We believe the charges are unfounded," DiLullo said. "After two years of struggling with the township and all the time and money we invested, why would I allow, within two months of us opening, the solicitation of prostitution?" Emery said officers from Pemberton Township, Trenton and the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office launched a joint investigation at the club after receiving reports of activities that included prostitution. He said undercover officers entered the business on several occasions. During these visits, the officers were offered various sexual acts in exchange for money, the chief said.
Officers arrested Castor and Dourado at the club Tuesday evening. They were charged and released pending court hearings. Emery said an investigation into activities at the bar is continuing. The club, at the site formerly operated as Taps tavern, has drawn the ire of township officials since it opened in July with dancers performing while wearing pasties. DiLullo said dancers now wear bikini tops and bottoms. The club originally had hoped to offer topless dancers, but a Superior Court judge ruled that type of entertainment was not permitted because the building was too close to two school-bus stops. Community leaders opposed to the business vowed to continue lobbying municipal government to shut down the establishment. "Is there a bulldozer available?" asked the Rev. Guy Glass of the Calvary Baptist Church, one of the most vocal opponents. "Seriously, I'm very happy that the township started this process. I believe this is only the tip of the iceberg." - At approximately 2:10 AM on 9/14/2005, Pemberton Township Police Officers responded to the scene of a serious motor vehicle accident on Pemberton-Browns Mills Road. When the officers arrived they found that the vehicle involved had struck a utility pole and was in flames. The three occupants had gotten out of the vehicle prior to it being engulfed in flames. Officers determined that the driver, Joshua Canfield, 20, 111 Hanover Blvd, Browns Mills, was under the influence of alcohol and had blood drawn from him at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mt Holly for blood alcohol level tests. The results from this test are pending. Canfield was also treated for non-life threatening injuries while he was at the hospital. The front seat passenger, Daniell Morgado, 18, 315 Garden Ave, Browns Mills, was taken to Helene Fuld Trauma Center in Trenton. The rear seat passenger, Matthew Brewer, 21, 119 Juniper Street, Browns Mills, was taken to Virtua Hospital for treatment of his injuries. The injuries that the passengers sustained were not deemed to be life threatening. Officers investigating this collision determined that the vehicle (1986 Nissan 300ZX) was traveling east on Pemberton-Browns Mills Rd. when it left the roadway and struck a utility pole. After hitting the utility pole the vehicle continued to travel for approximately 75-100 feet before coming to rest in a ravine. The driver and front seat passenger appear to have been using seat belts. Patrolman Bruce Phillips from the Pemberton Township Police, Traffic Safety Office, is handling this investigation.
